V17.0-SP1 RELEASE NOTES

V17.0-SP1 New Features/Changes

PiCPro V17.0-SP1 contains the features and changes listed below.

• A Tag Name List Generator has been added to PiCPro to help shorten design time by providing an easy integration path between the newly released H-Series HMI and the G & L family of controls. This new tool creates a tag name list file that is imported into H-Designer, the H-Series programming software, providing a convenient way to reference variables or tag names used in both the ladder and in the H-panel.
• A new H-Series serial and Ethernet communication Application Specific Function Block (ASFB) has been added in conjunction with the Tag Name List Generator that provides an easy and effective communication interface between the H-panel and the G & L control. New H-panel application examples mean you won’t have to start a project from scratch.
• The S200-DLS Drive List and Data View now support both SFD and incremental encoder feedback options. Added pop-up windows help the user configure the drive saving valuable machine start-up time.

Motion Library Changes

• A limitation that existed on all controls during servo initialization that checked for the maximum number of real and virtual servo axes in Servo Set-up and compared that to the total number of axes supported for a given control has been removed. The STRTSERV and DSTRTSRV functions now only check for the maximum number of real servo axes which means you now get more axes per control that ever before.
• Improved the I/O output response time when using the PLS and CAM_OUT function blocks and control resident general I/O. This update ensures the output on and off accuracy will be maintained despite long ladder scan times.
• The Profibus and DeviceNet option Modules are fully supported on the MMC-DSA family of controls providing alternative communication protocol options for 3rd party connectivity.

V17.0-SP1 Reasons To Update Your Firmware

SmartDrive Firmware Changes
(MMC-SD-xxx-D Digital MMC Smart Drive R0804.HEX)

• The Digital MMC Smart Drive now supports absolute feedback for a digitized resolver axis where precise position feedback at power up is required.
• Enhancements for fast input reporting on the MMC Smart Drive improve fast input response and provide the accuracy necessary for the most demanding applications.
• The emulated incremental encoder output on the Digital MMC Smart Drive has been improved providing a stable feedback signal to other devices.

MMC-for-PC Firmware Changes
(MMC for PC-Sx SERCOS R0518.HEX)

• The MMC for PC SERCOS control now includes support for a single packaged, dual axis SERCOS drive. This new feature provides an alternative to the standard one drive, single axis solution.

S200 DLS firmware Changes
(S200 DLS Drive R0102.HEX)

• The S200-DLS servo drive feedback option has been expanded and now includes incremental encoder feedback. This allows the F2 connector on the DLS option card to be used for primary feedback for motor commutation or as a secondary feedback providing a digitized ½ axis. The drive now supports both SFD and incremental feedback and gives the machine builder more component selection options.
• Enhancements for fast input reporting on the S200-DLS drive and added support for event reporting on the option card F2 feedback connector improve fast input response and provide the accuracy necessary for the most demanding applications.
• Corrected a problem that could cause “velocity” mode axes to slowly drift when the velocity command was zero.
• Fixed power-up timing issue when SFD feedback is not connected.

MMCD64/32 Firmware Changes
(MMC-DSA32-64 Standalone Control R0605.HEX)

• Enhancements to the MMC-D32 and MMC-D64 control firmware increase performance up to 10x that of previous versions. This greatly reduces application scan times even on those higher axis count machines.
• Corrected a General Protection Fault when the second FPGA is not present (2 branches only).
• Corrected a General Protection Fault when more than 3 drives on a branch were present.

MMC DSA Firmware Changes
(MMC-DSA2-16 Standalone Control R0606.HEX)

• The Profibus and DeviceNet option Modules are fully supported on the MMC-DSA family of controls providing alternative communication protocol options for 3rd party connectivity.

Analog SmartDrive Firmware Changes
(MMC-SD-xxx Analog MMC SmartDrive R0208.HEX)

• The Analog MMC Smart Drive family has been expanded and now includes 30kw, 42kw, 51kw, and 65kw models. From 0.5kw up to 65kw, the Smart drive has the power range that's right for the application.

SOFTWARE NOTES

• It is highly recommended that you Rebuild all UDFBs and servo setup files in your system before using version 17.0. If they aren't recompiled, there could be problems with operation. If the source files aren't available, get the source files or a new compiled library from whoever wrote the program.
• PiCPro defaults to serial communications on restarting unless you were connected to a local MMC for PC.
• Use the DOS 8.3 format naming convention for Project compressed files if you will be saving those on FMSDISK.
• Do NOT move, rename, replace, or delete PiCPro Library files (.LIB) from outside of PiCPro while PiCPro is running. If you do this, you MUST open the Libraries dialog (File | PiCPro Libraries) and click on the OK button to rescan the Library files; otherwise unpredictable results may occur. After rescanning, close and reopen all open files.

BEFORE RUNNING PiCPro V17.0

• It is helpful to have your extensions appear on your files. Ensure that Windows Explorer is setup to display three-letter extensions on all filenames. Follow these steps to do this:
  

  In Windows 2000/XP:

  1. Right click My Computer.
  2. Choose either Open or Explore.
  3. Click Tools | Folder Options in the window's menu bar. The Options box appears. Click on the View tab and uncheck "Hide file extensions for known file types". (In Windows XP uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types".)
  4. Click OK. Your extensions will now appear on your files.

• After installation is completed, but before you run PiCPro, modify the properties of your virus scanning program and exclude any *.tmp files in your Windows temporary directory. For example, temporary files are usually found in \WINDOWS\TEMP or \WINNT\TEMP directory. You would add this directory to the exclude list in your virus scanning program's properties. (This prevents any confusion for the scanning program when you compile a binary file in PiCPro that might resemble virus binary sequences.)
